Categories: Thankful Series

NaBloPoMo ParticipantIn accordance with the mandated rules by NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month), I need to write one blog post per day. While this isn’t usually a problem, I have started a series that will run for the entire month on this blog. It is called the Thankful Series. Every single day of this thirty-day month, I will come up with something that I am thankful for that includes the subject of adoption.

This won’t always be easy for me. Adoption in my world is a bittersweet topic. It’s hard to be completely, utterly thankful when your heart is torn in many directions. So, not only will this be a worthwhile writing challenge but an emotional challenge as well. (Because I need more challenges in a month that includes a visit with the Munchkin, my son’s first birthday and Thanksgiving? I’m insane.)

I will also be writing about the normal topics that I cover, including the wonderful, outstanding and awesome visit that we have coming up in thirteen days. THIRTEEN DAYS! This month also brings with it the start of the “official holiday season,” in case you didn’t notice that if you were shopping at all this past weekend, which can be a hard time for many birth parents. I will also begin talking about things that are hard for me, hard for others and what can be done by all sides to ease the general uneasiness. But one post, per day, will be dedicated to something that I am thankful for with regard to our adoption, adoption in general or just somehow related to the topic of adoption.

So, when you see a blog entitled “Thankful Series” followed by a couple of words, it’s just me, being thankful, and posting once a day. Though, to be honest right now, I’m really, really thankful that all of the candy I ate yesterday evening is now “over and done with.” That’s too much sweets for me!

Stay tuned all month. Maybe you will realize some new things to be thankful for and celebrate within your own adoption life.

    Jenna,

I like this idea…may I copy it? Sometimes I have a hard time being thankful as well… especially about all the situations our adoption has brought into our lives.

  2. Go for it! It’s the perfect month to be thankful! WOO!
