Eggs on our Bellies

Taken on the same day as last week’s Love Thursday photo, this one has some special meaning. First of all, I was laying upside down on our small hill and the Munchkin came to join me. Then she decided that we needed to have eggies on our bellies. Kids are interesting.

Kids also “know” things without knowing there is anything to know.

When I was seven years old, my Mom and I went to my Grandma’s house. I was playing on the floor and they were sitting in chairs. My Mom said to my Grandma, “I have something to tell you.” I blurted out, “Mom’s going to have a baby,” without ever looking up from where I was playing. That wasn’t what my Mom was going to tell my Grandmother but there was suspicion. They were pregnant at that time but they hadn’t hit the missed period date. My Mother asked me how I “knew” and I said I just wanted a sibling. Strange, however, since I had been asking for a sibling since I was four. Why did I pick that moment?

The eggs on the belly is eerily similar. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, yes, Josh and I are expecting another baby to add to our family. In fact, that’s why I haven’t been around this week. My morning sickness is actually all-day-sickness and, of course, Josh is out of town for some fire school training. We’re elated and excited and every other word that describes “totally stoked.” We’re due in early December.

As I laid on my back, upside down on a hill, with the Munchkin by my side and eggs on our bellies, I wondered if she had any telekenetic connection to me like I’ve had to my own Mom a few times over the years. I wouldn’t necessarily expect her to since I am not doing the daily parenting. However, the thought is somewhat nice.

I love this picture. I love time with the Munchkin. I love laying upside down in my backyard. With eggs on my belly.
