Growing up, my parents would take me and my brother to see a movie on Thanksgiving evening. You know, after the turkey was consumed and dishes were washed. There's almost always
some movie worth seeing on Thanksgiving weekend because the movie people are smart enough to release the big hits when families have time off from work! This year is no exception, of course.
Today the movie
August Rush is being released in theaters. I first saw the preview commercial about a week and a half ago. And I sobbed all over myself. Because of a thirty second commercial! (Click
here to watch the trailer. But get tissues first!) You want a brief synopsis? Okay!
Keri Russell (Felicity) is an amazing musician. She gets pregnant with another amazing musician's baby. In the preview, you can hear her father telling her that she can't keep the baby. And then, she's in some kind of accident. And her father lies and tells her that the baby died. But, of course, as this is the movies, the baby didn't really die. Oh, the treachery! And so, eleven years later, Russell's character is looking for her child who has turned out to be, you guessed it, some kind of music prodigy. There's all kinds of adoption related stuff (the child was stuck in a home for years) as well as some really great music (from the reviews I've been reading). And so if you like music and you want to watch a tear-jerking adoption movie that doesn't seem to be on the same wavelength as Lifetime super-drama, I think this might be the one for you.

I'm trying to decide whether I'll see it in the theater or if I'll wait until it comes out on DVD. I'm not much of a movie theater kind of person. Mostly because I'm not a quiet kind of person. And I like to be able to get up and get more snacks without missing crucial events or lines of dialogue! I am, however, actually looking forward to this movie as opposed to some
other ones. (My movie theater attendance is also being dictated by this little man in my uterus who either wants to escape or beat my bladder to piehttp://www.adoptionblogs.com/admin/

If you happen to see the movie before I do, can you please let me know what you think. I just adore Keri Russell. And it doesn't hurt that Robin Williams is in the flick, too!
