Love Thursday ! One Day Late.

Last night I had a treat waiting for me on the kitchen table. It was a postcard on top of the stack of our mail for the day. As I picked up the postcard, I noticed a Hawaiian scene on the front and then began reading the back of the card. As I was reading, I glanced down at the bottom of the postcard to see who it was from. But,I could not see the signature.

The post office had placed a long strip all the way across the bottom of the card covering up the signature. Shame on them! The only mail that the post office ever seems to mess with is mail from my son Chris. The first card that he sent me around Mothers' Day looked as though someone had taken a huge bite out of one corner! Most of the stamp was gone, so the fact that I received the card at all was quite amazing.

I thought I recognized the handwriting, but wasn't certain. The content of the postcard was generic and actually could have come from either son. Come to think of it, their handwriting is similar. Poor babies (32 and 37 years old they are), both have handwriting much like mine. After I finishing reading the postcard....been in Hawaii for work for a week...got to see some sights...I gently pulled off the label which had covered the signature.

As I pulled back the strip, and saw, "Love, Chris", my face exploded into a "light up your face" happy smile. You know the kind of smile I mean, a silly grin somewhat like the smile on the clock photo above. A card from your son signed with love doesn't sound like that huge a deal, right? Five years into reunion, it still is for me. I suspect that after all our years apart, I will never take our contact for granted. I will be smiling for days!
