Part 1. Other adoptive moms include Diane Keaton, Rosie McDonnell and Sharon Stone. Sharon Stone….well, you know I imagine about her foray into bad mom history. I like Diane Keaton, but I have not heard any of her views or quotes about adoption. Rosie, on the other hand, has made some remarks about adoption that indicate her lack of enlightment.
Finally, I came up with a celebrity mom that I really like – Nicole Kidman. Again, I have not heard her speak much about adoption, so I can’t really say how enlightened she is or not. When she adopted, there was no world-wide media hype, or at least I missed it if there was some. I am not saying it needs to be a secret, I don’t think it should be. However, is it fair to adopt children and blast their stories all over the world? If you intend to do that to promote adoption, should you try to avoid all appearances of cutting corners or any improprieties? I know the press sometimes gets ahold of items and runs with them. Some star/celebs seem to manage though without having their adoptions turn into a three-ring circuses.
Promote foreign adoptions – I have no issue with doing that – as long as all ethic and moral practices are strictly followed. Celebrities have the means to do enough research to make certain everything is on the “up and up.” They have resources to thoroughly check agencies to insure that their practices are ethical. When celebrities with all the means and resources at their disposal fail to publicly adopt with no hint of any improper behavior, I cannot blame that all on the press. Any adoptions with hints of bad practices sadden me because they imply that it is acceptable.
The article quoting blogger Sandra acknowledges that corners were cut for Angelina Jolie. (Other articles say no rules were broken.) Rules are in place for reasons in adoption, and when being wealthy entitles one to break rules that offends me as a birth mother. Adopted children deserve ethical and dignified adoptions, no matter how wealthy the adoptive parents might be.

I did not know those people had adopted. That is very cool.
I want to adopt a child or several children in the future. Perhaps when I am more mature.
But, a large part of me wishes people would stop talking about famous people’s business. At least the media, unless they get all the details right. It seems like they would have a hard enough time (if they haven’t done their homework, and even if they have) as it is without the media mixing things up and angering many people in the process…
*Shy wave*
I agree that corners should not be cut, but I read other places that Jolie’s process was sped up because the child was a waiting child.
It’s hard to know what information is right because the media is just interested in the juicy sensational data and not the hard, solid facts, which is what I’m looking for…
