Birth Fathers' Love for Their Children

Dear Andy is a poignant story of a birth father and his love for his son. He talks about a family book that he lovingly put together for his son when his son was very small. Then, when his son was nine years old (or half way to age eighteen as he describes it), he shares a letter that he wrote to his son. The love he feels for his son is obvious.

If you peek around the Internet carefully enough, you will find birth fathers speaking up now. Part of their reluctance in the past was undoubtedly a macho sort of issue I imagine. Plus, birth fathers know how many misperceptions exist about them. Understandably, they have been reluctant to expose themselves to the ridicule and scorn.

However, just as birth mothers have learned that their voices are needed, so are birth fathers as well. They must be very tired too of knowing that so many people in society are oblivious to the love that they feel for their children. To be thought of as cold and uncaring stings for birth fathers and mothers.

Is someone in the reading audience waving their hand wanting to remind me that some birth dads are not such nice guys? I am aware that is the case. I do not live in a cave! However, I know if I had not mentioned this, someone might be certain to remind me.

Until we clone humans on a regular basis, birth dads will not all be alike. However, I do know that many birth fathers love their children a great deal. Many birth fathers go on to marry, have other children and become excellent fathers. They do not forget a child lost to adoption.
