A Petition for Birth Parents

Not much to say on this one as it speaks for itself. They are trying to get 1,000 signatures on the petition (regarding birthparents wanting open records for adoptees) by the New Year. If you are a birth parent, I urge you to read this petition and sign it if you fall into this category.

No Confidentiality Promised for Birthmothers.

Currently there are 813 signatures, including my own. As I just mentioned in my last thankful post, I am all for opening records for adoptees. If, God forbid, something happened to me or the adoption, I want the Munchkin to have access to information about me, her heritage and her medical history. I want others to have that information as well.

Also, in step with this brief post, if you ever hear of a petition or quest for reform that you think would be of interest to either myself or my readers, please don't hesitate to contact me. I like to keep my readers updated on what is going on in the adoption world regarding birthparent issues and reform. Any heads up would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for helping to circulate the petition, Jenna. The figure named is for a push incentive, but hopefully the figure will grow way beyond that.

Is there any way we can word this to include first fathers (birth fathers)?

I did sign. Up to 826 now. Also linked to it from my blog, though my readers most likely read here, too. But just in case. =)
