I've been blogging here for an entire year. As of the beginning of this month, that is! I had looked back at some of my previous posts from this time last year and I can see the strides I've made in my own healing just by how I talk about various subjects. By no means am I suggesting that my adoption related grief and loss are issues of my past. No, not at all. I'm just pleased that I've managed to pull a few things together, make some sense of others and continued to learn about the issues that affect us all. It's been a good year. Not always easy but good! That said, it was a good month. Not always easy but good! I hit on… [more]

Monthly Review – September

Holy smokes! It's the end of September? October is in two days? I think I'm caught completely off guard because of the heat that has permeated most of this month. Finally, thank goodness, the temperatures are beginning to resemble something fall-like. In fact, we're headed to the Pumpkin Patch today! We're excited! September was a busy (very, very busy) month on the blog. We covered a lot of ground including two different book reviews. Along with the first book, we had three separate conversations about birth parent regret which stirred the pot both here on the blogs, on various other blogs and on the forums. Furthermore, walking hand in hand with some birth parents' regret, we talked about dealing

March!March has been another busy month for me, both here and in real life. It came in like a lion, in both weather and real life happenings and is leaving like a lamb. The weather is calm, beautiful and sunny and there is a smile on my face. Ending on a good note is always a plus. I started out seeking information for birth parents (or adoptive parents) regarding visits and found that there is, basically, nothing. So I decided to cover some topics over the course of the month. I shared ten great ideas for things to do during a visit (Parts One and Two)… [more]

February 28th!It's the last day of February? Where did the time go? Another busy month on the blogs, especially here on the birth/first parent blog. I've challenged myself a bit with some of the topics I've tackled. I'm glad that by writing here, I am continuing to push myself towards whatever healing is available to me at that time through those circumstances. My Faith and Adoption series continues to be one of my favorites even though I only write it once per week. (Minus this past week when I had a brief hiatus from adoption in my life.) At the beginning of the month, I finally mustered the courage to speak to our Pastor about my role as a birth mother. After… [more]

JanuaryThe first month of 2007 has been a busy one here on the blogs. We've added new bloggers, tackled tough topics and learned a lot from one another. Personally, I've found this month to be quite invigorating when it comes to my own writing journey! My Faith and Adoption series has been, thus far, a hit with readers of all types, including birth mothers, adoptive parents and mothers who have chosen to parent their children. The response and general feedback that has been offered regarding this series has been a boost to my own personal faith. On top of that, my readers continue to share stories about their own triumphs and struggles with the issues of faith in their lives. From every… [more]
