The Italian is a foreign film set to release on January 19, 2007. Set between Russia and Italy, my guess is at the very least the scenery will be stunning. (Read to the bottom to find a link to the trailer!)
Hollywood.com explains the movie in the following blurb:
It's a pretty tall order to ask a six-year-old to suddenly take on responsibility for his own life. The questions facing Vanya are really tough:... more

Having just read and reviewed Singing Bird, I decided to search my library's internet catalog for books on adoption in the fiction genre. I have most of my non-fiction books picked out for this year's coming reviews so I wanted to see what was available. My findings? Not much!
I don't know why I was shocked. I don't know why I feel like I've been punched in the gut. I don't know why it feels like, once again, I'm an ignored part of the triad. I should... more
I've finished my first book in my monthly book review series!
Singing Bird by Roisin McAuley (2004, fiction) was a surprising, interesting, devastating and inspirational tale about adoption. Set in Ireland with stops in England and France, it's a look into other countries and their adoption... more
Thanks for all of your suggestions, inquiries and other great ideas on my previous post. I've got a lot of good ideas for the coming year and I can't wait to get started on them to share with you, my readers.
Along with that, in 2007, I am going to post one book review per month on this blog. Once per month, I will read and write about a book that covers an adoption topic. As I am a birth mother, I will be reading both fiction and... more
The Girls Who Went Away and Ann Fessler, its author, just won a new honor. The book has been named as one of the Top Ten Amazon Picks.
"The Book" as Dr. G. has described it was not a shocking revelation for me as it has been for some. Don't get me wrong, I love the book for the impact that it is having. It is also a well-written and researched book of great value. The book is doing a superb job getting out the stories... more
Josh and I went to see We Are Marshall last night. (A review of the movie written here.) While you may not think a movie about football has anything to do with adoption, well, I might have to agree. There were no prevalent adoption story lines in this movie. However, have you ever been sitting watching a movie or a television show when something jumped out at you, smacked you in the face and forced you to think... more
One of the benefits of my husband's job for me and my grandchildren is that the movie studio that he works for sometimes screens movies on the lot. We have taken the grandchildren to see several movies there, and it is a treat for us all. When my hubby found out that "Charlotte's Web" was to be shown, he was pleased as he knew 8-year old A. would probably love it.
Yesterday, five of us went to the studio for a screening of the movie. Most of you may know the story of Charlotte's Web as it is a classic in children's books. Somehow I had escaped reading... more
Playing off Adrienne's recent book review and gift ideas from Coley for your placed child, I offer up this book review. Books are my thing as I'm a huge book nerd so I always try to buy the Munchkin books as presents. However, this was the first adoption related book that I bought for... more
Part 1 is here. Some details have led this young man to believe that this woman is his birth mother. He read somewhere that she had put a child up for adoption, and she used to live in the town where he was born. Right, like a college professor would be mentioning that she placed a child for adoption 26 years ago? I don't think so! They MUST be kidding!
In one of the final scenes, the young man tells the professor that he has tightly in his grasp why he... more
How's that for a title? Makes it sound a bit like the weather affects a person's mind and makes them do bad things, huh? However, I had to mention our amazing heat wave and I just watched the t.v. show, "Criminal Minds" with its adoption twist. It really does make some sort of sense!
The weather has been breaking records here in sunny Southern California this week. A cool-down is on the way, but our temperatures have reached up into the 90's this week! November's been feeling like July here in my part of the world. The past few mornings as I have glanced... more
